I’ve been putting this off for years. Natural deodorant always sounded good in theory, but I didn’t want to be the person who smells halfway through the day. I kept buying the same drugstore stick because it was easy and familiar. At some point though, I got tired of wondering what was actually in it. Aluminum, synthetic scents, stuff I couldn’t even pronounce. I figured, fine, I’ll try something cleaner.
Primally Pure kept popping up, so I ordered a few. The first one I used was Unscented. Honestly, I picked it because it felt like the least risky option. No essential oils, no chance of a strong smell I couldn’t stand. Just plain.
I was taken aback by the texture. Unlike some "natural" sticks I tried years ago, it is neither chalky nor hard. It doesn't feel greasy, but it is smooth—almost like balm. I liked that it goes on clear.

It was a difficult first week. I believe the detox phase was taking place, as I had heard. On some days, I thought it didn't cover me at all. However, around the second week, something changed. In fact, my skin felt calmer, and I noticed less odour. After shaving, I usually get bumps or irritation, but this time, it didn't burn. It simply did its job while sitting quietly.
It doesn't cover you in perfume, which I now kind of adore. There are no conflicts if I choose to wear fragrance. I simply smell like myself if I don't. And that's sufficient. I still reach for this stick the majority of the time in the morning.

This one is even kinder. Just arrowroot and magnesium, no baking soda. This might be a better option if you have sensitive skin. Once applied, it feels smooth and nearly undetectable. Sincerely, it held up when I tested it on a day when I knew I would be home. Calm protection, nothing fancy.

This one smells nice in a way that doesn’t feel forced. Kind of floral, but not sweet. There’s an herbal edge that makes it grounding. I liked it more in the evening, after a shower, when I wanted something that felt relaxing. Almost like skincare plus scent.

If the Unscented is quiet, this one is loud—in a good way. Cooling from peppermint and eucalyptus, plus charcoal for extra detox. I used it on workout days. It made me feel fresher, almost like a minty breeze under my arms. Stronger scent than the others but not fake-smelling.

Same cooling vibe, but softer. Less tingle, more comfort. Good if you like the peppermint/eucalyptus thing but baking soda usually causes issues for you.

This one surprised me. It smells like orange with a hint of vanilla, sort of like a creamsicle but not sweet-sweet. Cheerful without being too much. I wore it on a Saturday morning and kept sniffing my shirt sleeve because it was just… pleasant.

Clean and crisp. Definitely the one that smells the most like “fresh laundry” or a shower. The citrus lifts it, the eucalyptus sharpens it. I can see myself liking this most in the summer.

Simple and familiar. Smells like straight lavender essential oil, not mixed with anything sugary. It felt calming, almost bedtime appropriate. I don’t think I’d wear it every day, but for nights when you want something soft, it works.

This one felt very floral but not too powdery. It reminded me of standing near blooming flowers in a garden, not like perfume. More grounded than I expected.

Bright. Grassy. Sharp. It wakes you up. I wore it on a hot day and it felt clean and energetic. Maybe not an everyday scent for me, but I liked how fresh it made everything feel.

This one is straightforward. Smells exactly like tea tree oil—earthy, a little medicinal. Not the most “fun” scent, but I trusted it when I needed something antibacterial. After a long walk outside, it held up well.
After trying all of them, the Unscented is my everyday pick—steady, no irritation, no scent fatigue. I keep others for variety: Blue Tansy for calm days, Charcoal for workouts, Vanilla + Citrus when I want brightness. If you’re new, start with Unscented or Baking Soda Free. Adjustment takes time, but once it settles, natural deodorant feels worth it.
