When you have a cat, you have to get used to some strange habits. Mine always happened at the worst time of night. She would wake up around 3 a.m.
It usually started with kneading. First the blanket, then my shoulder, and finally my stomach if I kept up the act of sleeping. At times, she would just look at my face until I woke up. On other nights, she walked around the house looking for warmer places and then came back.
She has always been obsessed with being warm. The sunny windows, the folded laundry, and the couch corner by the heating vent. She moved around a lot to find the best place to sleep.
That's why I didn't expect much from the Knead Therapeutic Cat Bed.

I put the bed next to the window, where she usually sleeps in the afternoon. She saw it right away.
First, she walked around it. After that, she smelled the edges like she was checking it out. Then she went inside, walked around once, and started kneading. At that point, I knew she liked it.
Cats knead when they feel comfortable. It usually means they're about to find a place they like to live.
The orthopedic memory foam felt very different from the blankets she usually uses. The surface didn't stay flat; it slowly moved around her body as she curled up.
In just a few minutes, she was in a loaf position with her eyes half closed.
One thing I've learned from having a cat is that they are always looking for warmth.
During the day, mine follows the sun across the floor. She sits on a warm laptop if one is close by. She finds it when the heating vent is on. The Knead bed has a soft, built-in warmth that makes the surface always comfortable for cats to lie on.
She kept going back to it that afternoon. Usually, she moves around the house a lot, but that day she mostly stayed in one place. By night, she had clearly claimed it.
I thought the usual 3am routine would happen that night. But it never happened.
I woke up around 6 a.m. and saw that she hadn't woken me up at all. I looked in the living room and saw that she was still curled up in bed by the window.
The same thing happened again over the next few nights. She stayed in bed for most of the night instead of walking around the house looking for warmth.
I started to understand why she seemed at ease there after watching her use it for a few days.
The shape is comfortable for cats to sleep in because it fits the way they naturally curl up. The raised sides give her something to lean on while still supporting her body.
The memory foam base also spreads weight out better than a regular cushion. That extra support is probably helpful because cats sleep for so many hours every day.
She sometimes kneads the edge of the bed before lying down, which is usually a sign that she is relaxed.
After about a week I noticed a few small changes. She was sleeping longer and switching spots less often. She also seemed calmer after naps, stretching and grooming before moving around again.

Beds like this are designed with orthopedic support and gentle warmth, which can help reduce pressure and stiffness over time. Even though my cat isn’t very old yet, I can see why the extra comfort helps.
I didn't expect the biggest change to happen. I slept better.
Those 3am wake-ups happened almost every night before the bed came. They don't happen very often now. Most nights, she just stays curled up in bed by the window. As a cat owner, that's really a small miracle.
Cats are very honest about what makes them comfortable. They leave if they don't like something. It says a lot that she chose this bed over all of her old sleeping places.
The bed is clearly good for her because it keeps her warm, has supportive foam, and fits her natural sleeping position.
Now, most nights I see her already in bed with her paws tucked under her and her eyes slowly closing. Since the day the Knead Therapeutic Cat Bed came, she hasn't used her old blanket pile.
And for the first time in a long time, we are both sleeping through the night.
